Unlike many other Roman Catholic countries, in order to be eligible to have a Church Wedding or Civil Ceremony in the South of France, either the bride-to-be or the groom has to have been resident in France for a minimum of 40 days, or have an official French address.
The Civil Ceremony at the Mairie (Town Hall) has to take place, before a Church Wedding can be conducted. Once a Civil Marriage certificate has been obtained (in whichever country), a Wedding Blessing can be performed by a duly 'ordained' person .... at a hotel/restaurant ....on the beach .... in a Château .... or even on a yacht!
Wedding Blessings can be arranged in English, and in most other languages. Note:- Wedding Ceremonies/Blessings can be arranged with an Anglican or Roman Catholic Priest, with a Jewish Rabbi, with an Imam, or they can be totally non-denominational. |
